PSA: Fred Korematsu Day

Public Service Announcement

A Powerful Reminder That History Can Repeat Itself

Partners:

Writer, Director, Producer: Eric Paul Fournier

In 1942, at the age of 23, Fred T. Korematsu refused the government’s order to go to incarceration camps for Japanese Americans. He was arrested and convicted, but appealed all the way to the Supreme Court. Sadly, in 1944, the Supreme Court ruled that the incarceration was justified due to military necessity. It wasn’t until 2018 that the Supreme Court overturned Korematsu’s conviction.

We are proud to have won a Telly Award for Editing for this project.
